On-campus, state-of-the-art dental care becomes available to all Brooke Grove Retirement Village (BGRV) independent living, assisted living and nursing home residents as well as staff and volunteers with the opening of a new dental suite at Brooke Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (BGRNC) during the first week of April. The community is invited to a celebratory Open House on Friday, April 28, from 1-4 p.m.
Comprehensive dental care will be provided in the new suite by David Pinsky, DDS. and Associates of State of the Art Dental Group. "As dentists, we spend our lives treating patients and giving them the best possible care," said Dr. Pinsky, who was named one of America's top dentists in 2003-2004 by the Consumers' Research Council of America for Cosmetic Dentistry and Esthetic Restorations. "Why should this stop when a patient enters a nursing or assisted living home? It is important to us that residents continue to enjoy the high quality dental care to which they are entitled.
With over 20 years of experience in the practice of dentistry, Dr. Pinsky takes pride in keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in dental technology. Graduating in 1983 with a doctorate from the University of Maryland, Dr. Pinsky went on to graduate from the Academy of Functional and Straight Wire Orthodontics in 1986. In recent years, he began to envision a center for excellence where all the elements of dental care could be brought together in one location. That vision is now a reality as a skilled staff of clinical practitioners provides excellent dental care, ranging from mercury-free, white fillings and orthodontics to implants, dentures and maxillofacial surgery at State of the Art Dental Group in Rockville and, with the opening of this new location, at State of the Art Dental Group and Brooke Grove.
Continuing education also plays a vital role in the professional lives of Anita Ho, DDS, who will assist Dr. Pinsky in staffing the BGRNC location of their practice. Dr. Ho jointed the State of the Art Dental Group in 2002 and has been in the field of dentistry for 14 years. A graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry in Texas, she also holds a bachelors of science degree in nursing.
An example of advanced technology available in the new dental suite is the intra-oral camera, which provides the dentist with views inside the mouth that are 100 times better than can be seen with the naked eye. Other high-tech equipment and services include computerized anesthesia, non-surgical, painless treatments for periodontal disease and the latest in bleaching lights. Clients are invited to unwind with stereo headphones or to watch a movie on the flat-screen television during their treatment. For those who just can't relax during their dental visit, nitrous oxide is an option.
State of the Art Dental Group at Brooke Grove will initially be open each Wednesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm, with flexible scheduling available upon request.
Independent living residents, staff members and volunteers are invited to call the Rockville office of State of the Art Dental Group at 240-683-0527 to request an appointment at the Brooke Grove location. BGRNC and assisted living resident appointments may be made through the social worker at each facility.
