Bridging the Gap Left by Missing Teeth
Once you have a tooth pulled, that’s not the end of the story. An open space inside of your arch can impact your entire mouth. Obviously, if the space is visible, it creates aesthetic concerns – but that’s not all. Just one open space triggers other teeth to begin shifting, drifting, and moving out of place. Even teeth in the opposing arch are impacted. An affordable solution is a dental bridge from State of the Art Dental Group in Rockville, MD.
Replacing your missing tooth as quickly as possible can help you retain proper tooth placement, aesthetics, and prevent dental health concerns. When an implant or partial isn’t the best option – a dental bridge may be the answer!
What is a Dental Bridge?
Fixed bridges are restorations that look like two crowns, with a false crown (“pontic”) fused between them. Each one is bonded over the healthy tooth on either side of your open space, creating the illusion that you have a new tooth where one was missing. Bridges can also be anchored directly on top of two dental implants, replacing up to 3 or 4 teeth in a row.
We create your prosthesis to resemble your natural teeth in size, shape, and color. Our goal is to give you the chance at having a healthy smile that looks as if nothing ever happened.
In most cases, we’ll schedule you for two different appointments, about two weeks apart. At your first visit, we prep the supporting teeth and take an impression of them. This is used by our lab, who creates the bridge under our specific guidelines. Once it’s ready, you’ll come back by for a quick visit for us to try the bridge in, make any adjustments, and cement it into place.
If you’re nervous about the preparation process, we have sedation options to keep you comfortable! Call us today to see if a bridge is right for you. Se habla Español.
Another restorative solution is a customized dental crown which is delivered to State of the Art Dental Group and is designed to blend with your smile’s natural color.
