Does going to the dentist make you feel nervous? If so, you’re not alone. Many people experience at least some mild anxiety when visiting the dentist, especially when they need to have some form of treatment completed.
Whether you’re having a wisdom tooth pulled, are getting a deep cleaning, or simply need a filling – we have sedation options available to help you relax and feel as comfortable as possible.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Unfortunately, dental anxiety can keep many patients from visiting the dentist for checkups and much-needed dental work. If dental appointments make you anxious, Dr. Pinsky can administer nitrous oxide (commonly known as “laughing gas”) to help you feel more at ease during your visit.
At State Of The Art Dental Group, laughing gas is administered using a mask, allowing you to feel more at ease within minutes. If you are feeling anxious about an upcoming visit, ask about nitrous oxide. Most of our patients are good candidates for this treatment.
If you suffer from dental anxiety, Dr. Pinsky may recommend oral sedation to increase your comfort. These anti-anxiety pills tone down activity in the parts of your brain that cause you to feel anxious or afraid.
Remember, if you take oral sedation, you cannot drive before or after your appointment. Bring a friend or family member with you to make sure you arrive and get back home safely following your appointment.
Our Rockville dentists are certified to provide our sedation services in a safe and effective manner for most patients. To learn more about our sedation options and determine which one is right for you, please schedule a complimentary consultation with us. We also offer full dental services for our younger patients!
